I just won this on ebay, not sure what a Tamiya 'Dune Buggy' is but I think I can restore this.
Not sure if I need to strip it and get replacement decals or not though? - Would you strip it and start again? Anybody got a spare light for sale? or decals? |

I saw that and quite fancied it for an SRB chassis. Too much for me though.
It's a Sand Rover shell (original, not re-re). Same chassis as the Holiday Buggy. I guess the re-re lights should fit, so try looking on ebay for those. e.g. This: |

Thanks, I know what it is, I was being slightly sarcastic.. Sorry I have a sand rover and have been working on it's restoration for nearly 10 years Parts are not easy to come by though. I still need rear axles and gears though. |

Does anybody know if/where I can get a set of original decals for my rebuild sand rover? - It is in 1st class condition with only a couple of small gravel grazes that I can easily sort out but the stickers are not in very good condition and the paint job is the worst ever.
As such I want to strip and repaint if possible. I have considered removal and savior of some of the original stickers that are in fairly good condition but I really want another set if possible. What would you use for paint removal BTW ? |

Oh come on, you're not even trying Admittedly some bits you'd have to get used (gears especially) and some NIP bits would be expensive (especially rear tyres), but there's nothing on a vintage Sand Rover that you couldn't have bought several times over on eBay in the last 18 months. |

As it's a metallic paint I'd try a strong caustic soda solution first - wear eye & hand protection - that might fetch it off. I've had no joy with brake fluid, but others swear by it. My paint stripper of choice is De-Solv-It "Graffiti Remover" from Screwfix, but it does cause some surface melting, especially for longer exposures.

HI!... Join the club. All my money goes towards bills and RC parts. Thank god I'm not married. If I was, my wife would kill me.................. on the other hand if I was married her income could help support more RC parts.... HMMMM be right back, going wife shopping. |
