TB-02R 6 months 1 week ago #79049

Well, hello everyone. New to this forum. Looking for some answers hopefully from someone who really knows Tamiya. TB-02R. The full kit, with more hop-ups then it originally came with. There is no information available online, aside from it being released in 2005. Does anybody have any more info? I have been told it might have been a Japan only release and is super limitedAnd a value on the chassis alone?

Welcome on board. I can't help you, but it's the first time I see this chassis and it is awesome. Carbon and blue aloy, all what I like.
Congrats.

You can find the original manual for it here .  That should give you plenty of information on the parts that it originally came with.

TB-02 Chassis Fitted with the Latest Racing Tune-Up Parts

The special limited release TB-02R is Tamiya's high performance shaft driven 4WD TB-02 chassis fitted with the latest high grade option parts. Not only giving you enhanced running performance, the lightweight propeller shaft and damper heads come finished in anodized blue aluminium for a look fitting of a speedy racing machine.

Lightweight, Extra Durability
For improved torsional rigidity and added weight savings, resin battery hold has been replaced by a carbon plate, and carbon braces have been attached to front and rear gearbox. For improved suspension performance, the race proven Reversible Lightweight Suspension Set has been added, along with medium grade front and rear stabilizers. Kit also includes TRF Damper Set (Fluorine Coated) for smooth damper movement and excellent shock absorption, Medium-Narrow Reinforced Tires Type A with inner foams pre-installed and Clamp Type Aluminium Wheel Hub (5mm).

Hi There.
Not sure if you got to the bottom of this one. I believe you have a full option TB02, not the R. Although someone has gone through the trouble to acquire all the bits to get it very close to R spec.

Reason for me saying it most likely didn't start off as a R version is the couple components that weren't changed. Arms, C-hubs and rear uprights are as they were on the base TB-02, same as the TA-04. The TB-02R shares suspension parts with the TB Evo IV, reversible short arms etc.

I have not seen "chrome" TRF dampers before... Definitely not standard on either of the TB-02 variants.

So, basically a R. Just needs the correct suspension bits.:)
