Hi Jon, yes that’s the one. It looks amazing. I want to make it look as realistic as possible when I build it.
I’ve never put led’s in a car before, but this is crying out for them.
I think Flo did it on his, looked brilliant.
Cheers.

A few small parts for my Subaru Brat restoration turned up today.
I can’t believe how long I’ve waited for the original front body post to come up.
Plus the original clear rear glass, bonus.

And after having learnt something new last week, here’s the knolling shot, albeit a bit messy.

The body shell is great on this car, the level of detail is amazing. I still don’t think it looks great on the chassis, but maybe once I’ve built it I’ll change my mind.

It’s an odd one this, I never set out to do a Brat resto, but I got most of the chassis for about £30, the body was about £20.
I know there’s a lot of work to do, but when I’m finished hopefully I’ve got a nice example for not silly money.
The rest of the bits that I was missing I’ve just been picking up when I spot them.
I might start the chassis as a winter project. I did a lot of the cleaning and polishing a while back so shouldn’t take too long.

Cheers Al

Yes I did it on my ta03rs. Very easy. Only need to drill the head lights for 5mm leds and 3 mm for the central front lights.
I used cold white LEDs but should be nicer with a mix of warm and cold ones.

Today’s delivery is a bumper for my Celica LB resto.
It’s not an original, it’s a repro one, but at this point in time it will do for me.
And a quick pic of how it will look in place.

I’m so close to being able to finish the chassis. I need some graffiti remover to tidy up the rear wheels. And a few fixings.

One final thing, I’ve been buying up a few vintage screw bags recently, as long as the price hasn’t been stupid. I’ll post a pic when I’ve got the rest delivered. I think it’s getting 2 original Cheetah screw bags the other week that got me thinking.
I thought it was handy to have as many spare screws as possible for some of my projects. I’ve also noticed that items like the small brass ball pins aren’t available anywhere. ( I’m about to be proven wrong aren’t I ). Any way I’ve been trying to pick up old screw bags when I spot them. Most of the screw bags belong to the car being restored.

Cheers Al

Cheers Flo, it’s another missing piece of the jigsaw.
We’re back stuck working from home, so I’m going through my projects and focusing on the missing parts, ready for when the day arrives to build them.

I hope all is good with you.

Worse to worse here Al. We are in dark red zone . But life is running . ;)
Is your new bumper a rere or 3D style repro? It looks awesome. I am sure that your resto will be fantastic.

Sorry to hear that Flo, things are getting worse here.
With more lockdowns being introduced in certain areas.
I think we just need to stay positive and do the right things for each other.

The bumper is not original. I think it’s been moulded . It’s too smooth I think to have been 3D printed.

Take care, everyone.
