Want your model to look unique? Why not make some wheels? I'm lucky enough to have a small machine shop & access to a variety of engineering plastics (& work's CNC router, if I need it). BUT another good trick is to make 'one-off' wheels from other old sets of wheels, 'cut & shut' to get non-standard widths, different drive hubs, different dishes or different spoke patterns. Just carefully cut off the part you need from an old set of wheels (eg front rim & spokes) & do the same with the donor wheels (eg back rim) then glue or weld them together (Welding is stronger & can be done with a soldering iron with a clean flat tip). It's usually best to CA glue the tyres on afterwards, to give the wheels some extra strength, if like me you tend to hit things with the excitement of new shiny parts...
