Hi
My son was given an old RC car. Looks like a Tamiya to me. I have looked all over for a chassis number and can't find one without starting to disassemble the model. Looked through the chassis database last night but none look quite right, but I am wondering if that is because it's missing a few bits? It didn't come with a body shell. Ignore the ESC it did have a mechanical speed controller and resistor setup but my sone swapped it over. Thanks for any help Dave Thanks for any help |

Yeh when I was looking through the chassis database last night that was the closest I could find. But there were a few differences to the photos shown on the database, front shock mounts and around where the rear motor housing is. I wasn't sure if it was because the one my son has is missing a few bits or its a slightly different variant.
I see the M03 has a few different wheelbases I will measure the wheelbase and compare. Thanks |

Odd numbered M-0n chassis are FWD, even numbers are RWD, pretty sure that's an M-04L from 99/2000

Yes and yes. You can swap the bodies between M-chassis models as long as the wheelbase matches. Whether or not it bothers you to have a FWD body on a RWD chassis (or vice versa) is a matter of preference. Certain M-chassis are adjustable to all 3 wheelbase options, and others are not. But you are in luck because RC Racer wrote a whole article about which bodies can be used with which chassis. You can use this to determine which bodies will fit your M-04L. |
