I see a lot of the vintage tamiya stuff come through the door at my store and have always looked for a place to see what they really are. I look forward to conversing with you all on the finer points of vintage tamiya. This super champ is current;ly for sale at my store.

Welcome, Rob. Can I conclude you run a hobby shop? B)
Nice Super Champ! Is the hot rod shell the one that goes with it or is there an original also present?

Hi Rob, welcome at TB. The value you mention sounds about right for an all original Super Champ. The real pricey and rare items would be the body set, decals, rear bumper (weak point),rear shock (always leak) and speed control. To retore your SC to the 350-400 mark will demand a bit of patient hunting and $$$$$. If you can get it for real cheap to restore the SC is absolutely super fun in the dirt.

Based on completed items on Ebay, I would say the value of yours is somewhere between USD 150 and 200.
As mentioned above, the original body is usually the trigger for higher prices.
