Hey all!
Like many of you, I was in the RC game since the mid to late 80's. Of course interests change as you grow older so I put away all my RC cars. I'm 37 now and dug out the boxes and decided to go through my old RC cars! My first real car was the Hornet, unfortunatly that is no where to be found. I did however find The Fox, a Tamtech Lancia LC2, a Blackfoot, and the newer of the Tamiya family, a Tamiya 4x4 Toyota Prerunner (I think I purchased this in early 2000 when I worked at Toyota). Anyway... looking to revive my old Tamiya family! Sure I have an old RC10 and some others (which I don't even know their names) but the Tamiya RC's always seemed to have my heart I will post up pics of my old collection when I get home. |

Thanks!
Not sure what I was thinking with those rear tires. I didn't have much dirt around the last time I ran it, so that might explain the slicks. I want to go through the gear box as it doesn't want to spin very freely. What's the best way to go about lubricating it? Take it apart, clean it up and use some Tamiya grease? |

yeah pretty much, when i get to my gearboxes i like to clean the gears and cases up and then rebuild without grease...a dry run really then test them for any resistance, just a couple of turns will determine this,if it runs freely then job done, disassemble and grease up. if its binding or you feel any resistance you may have some damage on the teeth.you then have two options, buy a new gear set or locate the damaged teeth and use a fine file just to take the burrs off the teeth,i preffer the latter, because it not as expensive, lol then use ceramic grease dont use loads and loads just lightly coverd gears will sufice mate. hope this helps jtf |
