Hi banares_ritchie,
The small fee is to try and cover some of the running cost of this site(dedicated server, software and other web services).
I just can't afford to cover all the cost myself (a couple of hundred USD pr month), and I believe €10/year is a sum acceptable to most guys playing with RC.
