So since my gears got stripped out, I've been looking to regear it to get some more speed out of it, since I have to pull the gears out anyway.
I've been thinking it would be good to get a kit, probably from Yeah Racing as I've had good luck with them, with a few pinion gears, and then do a couple different spur gears, probably right around the 55-58 tooth options that Tamiya offers. Do the TT-01 and the TT-02 share any gearing parts? I've been looking at trying to swap it to a more standard pitch setup, to open up more options for gearing, but everything to make an adjustable motor mount and/or spur gear mount is for the TT-02. It LOOKS like it should be the same part, but I was wondering if anybody could verify. I was thinking I'd shoot for somewhere in the 55T spur gear range, but I was thinking I could also go smaller on both gears and reduce the moments and rotational mass within the car (yes, I'm aware that those changes would be minimal but on this scale you MIGHT actually notice it...it's the degree I promise). Any suggestions? What have others done? I have the 13T Yeah Racing motor, if that makes any difference in what is suggested. TT-01E

So, I haven't fixed my gears yet, but I did get a new body and some wheels/tires. I have some new gears and stuff on order with the local R/C shop. Turns out I picked a college with a local R/C club full of professional racers.
I have comp-spec wheels and tires now, and got the suspension all dialed in, as low as I can get it, with the front end toed out just a hair. I'm going to start racing weekly there. Once I get good at driving, I'm probably gonna start going for some upgrades, but I've gotta get reliably good at driving it first. I'll post some pictures when I can. TT-01E

Alright now I've been running the car and racing it, I've been getting better at driving it; I haven't really changed anything mechanically on the car, just some new tires is all I've really done; just trying to get better at driving it, because while the car is kind of an underdog against the other guys driving, I can pretty much keep up on my hot laps, so I just need to get more consistent.
That said, I have 12 gauge wires running to the motor and they're getting hot; I'm in engineering at school and I know full well that when wires are getting that hot, you need bigger wires. I'm running 12 gauge wires to the motor from the ESC; I'm thinking 8 gauge is the way to go for as hot as those wires are getting. I'm going to assume brushless takes smaller wires than brushed, and that's part of why my wires are getting so hot. I'm also not really looking forward to putting bigger wires on the battery, ESC, and motor, but they're all getting hot enough to burn me, so they clearly need it. Does anybody have any recommendations or anything on this, on the best way to go about this? TT-01E
