Lancia 037 based on the TA03-Rs chassis.
I own two of these amazing cars. (once i had even 3 of them)
(There both new build, one is upgraded)

How it started out:

I made 2 complete one's out of tree.


And sold this one (to a guy on tamiyaclub)









Busy painting one of the driversets. I try to give it much detail.

The Lancia 037 is one of my favourites, but as I grew up with the original 58040 Lancia Rally (I had one back then) I think the 58278 looks really weird... Scale sized wheels, and tucked inside the fenders looks really strange, also the wheelarches on the later one looks way too small!

So, to make your two perfect you should widen the track (multipy by two) and put on some bigger wheels. Lunchbox wheels should do...

I never drove the 58040 so it's looks very scale to me. Love the look of this car.
Like Lars mentioned in the database comments the box art on the vintage car is quite deceiving :

Hey Spitfire, how does that chassis handle? I've had all sorts of TA03 chassis in my life, never the TA03RS though. All the TA03 long wheel base chassis are unstoppable on the track. My favorite was the TA03F pro. Loved that chassis. But I also had the TA03S but the front engined chassis. Brilliant chassis, but it was a bit "nervous" because of the short wheel base. Still a legend chassis in my books. Wish I didn't sell my chassis.

I've only got one runner, and that's my scratch build TA03F pro drift chassis.
So i can't tell you how it handles, caus i only go sideways with it
