Gunmetal (or maybe titanium) will certainly look distinguished.
The wire actually keeps in shape quite well. Works better when you heat it and leave it on for longer... For the small screws, the only real criterium I think is that they need to be at least about 15mm. These are 10mm. Then I could virtually make them level with the T-bar - effectively giving zero roll, which I will not do of course. It wouldn't really matter if they were longer and stuck out a bit on top. Thanks for the tip on the plastics. I'll have to wait a bit before ordering anything though. So far I managed to build it with parts at hand... Hoping to see an F103 in need of resto soon too btw. |

I'm not 100% sure, but I think 16mm is the nearest standard length, don't think 15mm is standard, could be wrong...
Here's a good one for you - I've searched high & low for a source of "Dual head" screws like Tamiya use (ie X-point & flat on the same head) & still haven't found any - have you?

That's a good one indeed - can't say I've found any. Even more so, at the local hardware shops everything below M3 is still sold with only a flat profile on it. No Philipses (or torxes for that matter) in sight... how ancient is that. |

Forgot to respond before... but the rear is only about 10mmm wider than the front. And the overall dimensions are the same as a Group C so that'll be alright. The regular foams look a bit tiny though. It kinda fits the era (bigass rims didn't count back then) but I think the Group C wheels with bigger foams will look better. |

That looks to me like a "Big badword Tire"

Yeah, those should fill up the arches nicely.
And they're relatively new so not as dry and brittle like most older tyres... Italian fabric. Extra cool on the F40. Never heard of the brand but looks like a very decent quality. They came with a less good looking C11 (understatement) from Germany. The bashed parts from that car were going to be the basis for this build. Until I received the cool new F102 parts of course... |

He's not active here but I couldn't have done this build without RickVs on Tamiyagekken.
Got the awesomest bunch of stuff from him. And he even offered to help out with the body posts. I may get to restore an F103 T-bar soon and switch the rear setup on the build to a more proper one too. Can't imagine anything cooler with the hobby at the core. Had to be mentioned... |

Sounds like a top quality guy. But I must say, having met you Edou, has restored my faith in the people that make RC fun and not always about money...

If there's no connection to any essence of what you're building, it doesn't hold any real value anyway...
Money doesn't make the world go 'round. That's gravity. Cash is mostly virtual nowadays anyway. Luckily there's guys around that get it. |
