So this weekend I decided to sort out my collection of original Hornets
I had acquired three over the last few months, one with a box and one with a manual and one with a Beaties bag , and I also had a box of various spares aswell
I wanted to end up with a shelfer and a basher and see what’s left haha
So first of all I stripoed all three down to components

Then the usual various potions and lotions to clean everything, and the results were good


Then rebuild using all the best bits for one and see where we are, ended up with three complete rolling chassis, one very nice example and two in reasonable condition

Then it was time to do the shelfer body, I had painted it a while ago so only decals to go



It was at this point I realised I hadn’t painted the rollcage

So out came the various masking tapes

Ready to spray the silver, rather happy with the result


Now time for more decals




Quite happy with the overall result, a good shelfer body

So we have a shelfer, a basher and one left over that will be for sale
Throw a couple more body shells into the picture and we have a swarm

Hornet is one of my favorite vehicle of the Tamiya fleet.
So simple, so fun!

Pintopower (Ampro) said something like "It's how bad these are that makes them so great", I'm totally agree with that!
The styling is so right out of the box
