So a while back I bought a Ferrari 312 T3.
But as usual I had a few random spares I’d picked up and then I bought a couple more bits thinking I could improve on the Ferrari when I get round to restoring it.
Long story short, I’ve picked up enough parts to build a second F1 chassis.
And then as luck would have it I saw a Ligier body set come up for sale.
 

So I’ve now set my sights on building the Ligier to go along side the Ferrari.

 
This is an old chassis I picked up for parts for this build to go with what I already had.

I can't wait to see this resto.  

 
Here’s the chassis I bought stripped down, luckily it came apart really easily.

 
A couple of days of cleaning. I don’t know why this one has jumped to the top of the queue.
 
And the chassis has started going back together.
For some reason I really like to try and get the plastic gears as clean as possible. I’m not trying to return it to new, but as darn near as I can get.
 
The mechanism box still needs a lot of work, but you get the gist. It’s coming together.
And a brand new set of rear tyres. One of those purchases where I had no idea what they’d be used for, I guess possibly the Ferrari resto, but those tyres are in good condition.
And there’s a mechanical speed controller waiting to be cleaned up as well.

The 540 motor from the partial chassis buy seems to be toast. I have managed to source the small bracket so I can put an original 380 motor in, which I think is how these came in the kit.

I know I’m missing a few little bits and pieces, but it’s pretty much there.
The main issue is definitely front wheels and tyres, but if nothing else I might have some old diplos I can stick on ????
Time to start rummaging through the spares.

I'm not sure but I should have a black bell 540 for this matra. And diplos were an option or included in the CS version.

You could use a black sprint motor if you have one .

Nice thread Al, I love these chassis. Glad you are documenting it, always wanted one but never saw one in person. Can't wait to see the body done.

I’ve hopefully got another nice little project turning up this week.
These early cars just resonate with me. This was my era growing up. For me the original HotShot is a modern car and that was 1985 😂😂😂
I’m aLao aware I have a huge amount of body work to be getting on with, so this may get finished quicker than I think.
I need to stop buying and start finishing, it’ll be cheaper.
 

I hear ya Al. I have a couple Winter builds that now need the bodies finished so they are all in queue... 😉👍
