This is becoming a very nice Hotshot. Very nice cleaning job.
One might be put off from those greasy, dirty, dusty, old models found on ebay and elsewhere, but many times they turn out to be great under all the grease.

Thanks, I'm very pleased with it.
I'm actually glad some parts were wrong or missing as it has made the challenge of restoring it more fun rather than just cleaning it!
I'm really looking forward to getting some good photos of it next to the rere :)

Ok, I'm going to be very picky now...
You should, in my opinion, swap the "modern" 540 you have installed to a vintage one.
The motor of a Hotshot is so visible, and using a modern metal endbell motor just distracts the eye :cheer:

Some progress!
I still have some minor bits needed to complete it, ,and a new body after Xmas I think.
It's just those front drive shafts that I'm annoyed about :(

A few phone photos, I will take some decent ones over the weekend.

Old and new :)

Looking great together....im going to build my new in box one over the xmas holidays while im off work :) one of the nicest Tamiya buggies B) you have done a great resto on that the drive shafts are rare but do come up on ebay quite often if you keep your eyes peeled :woohoo: my vintage hotshot had a snapped main drive shaft and it took months to find a replacement as they seem to come up even less often. i had to buy the remains of an older car just for the driveshaft off it.

I picked up a spare vintage rear driveshaft on eBay for 99p which came with half a gearbox too!
Was rather pleased to of spotted it, especially as the seller only lived 10 miles away! Sadly he didn't have any other bits
