This is the start of a new build thread, this time the FAV.
I bought the NIB FAV a couple of years ago from Jason's Ebay shop, and now it's time to build it. Make sure you "Subscribe" to this thread, to keep track on the following steps. -Lars |

Nice,
One of the most unique Tamiyas. I hope one of them will join my collection some day. I feel your pain on the blister cracking. I bought a few cars to bring with me when I move back over the pond to Norway from the US. Had to kill the blisters on the Egress and Super Champ to be able to pack them. Took me a few weeks to take that plunge even though they will be built. |

Ok, I have moved slowly forfaord on the FAV build, and Item 1 has been completed:
Attaching nerf bars (for a non-english-speaking bloke, the word "nerf" is funny... soory off topic...) And here they are mounted: Not very difficult, altough part A11 gave me a bit of a strugle just to fit alright, but no biggie... -Lars Signature now gets correct formatting if you edit it in your Profile. While we are at it, here is item 2 of the manual: The rear suspension shafts.
As with all my builds, I greas and fill oil as the manual says, I have never had any leakage og any other problems with plastic being in contact with petroleum products (greas, oil, etc) Here are the parts lined up for mounting: And here it's done: No worries at all... I'm moving slowly forward on this build...
Item 3 and 4 in the manual; Front Arms, has been done. Parts ready for assemly on item 3: Done: Here is the trick to pre-thread the lower "damper" mount before assembly. Use two of the damper shafts for the job: And here is the assembly sequence, the parts.... And finished assembly: I am off to Singapore for a few days, so this thread will stay like this for a few days. But, stay tuned for more -Lars Signature now gets correct formatting if you edit it in your Profile. Use normal BBcode if you want.
