Got some spraying done on other projects over the last couple of days (using brown, red, yellow, silver and black) but the shed got full again & then it started raining anyway, and this was in a prominent place on the bench, so why not finish it ...

Have sanded back the worst looking bit of the salt on the roof, painted some details, used Humbrol "rust" colour paint & Hull Red washes, plus flat clear on the "glass" to fog it up a bit ...

I had initially planned to go a bit further in making this look rough, but it actually looks quite cute as is & didn't want to risk loosing that ... still wondering if it's practical to rough up a few decals to make them look similarly aged...

For something that was just meant to keep me occupied for a couple of weeks while waiting for better weather, using a body that was really no use after stealing the bonnet, and a "zero" cost as I just used stuff I already had; and despite the obvious flaws (rear track width, sunken filler around the rear window infill), I'm actually quite pleased with the result :)

Rear track width Whoops, Still stunning details :) In fact to the moon better than I would ever hope to achieve ;)
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

Another way of looking at it is that the car had the Baja kit fitted at some point in its back story. Now that it’s fallen into disrepair it’s on an old set of wheels.
They would never fill out those big rear arches.

Love the work on this build.

Nice thinking Al, but the width at the back will annoy me future, so I've hatched the cuuning plan to cut the rear hubs off and stuff some 1/4" tube in to space them out by 10mm each side.

Another rainy day, still too fuzzy brained to finish any articles, so time to look at the list of scale things to build ... first cut some 6.5mm and 5mm wide strips from 1.5mm styrene sheet:

Fix together to make L-sections:

Build ramps:

These are closer to 1:5 than 1:10 scale, but I wanted to do them well oversize to cope with larger wheels - still looks just about ok on normal size:

My reference source, so I can remember what colour to paint them:
