Taps are easy to find of course, I'm talking about the round thingies.
What am I missing here?

They're taps & dies, not dyes

That actually does make a bit of a difference.
Still... 3mm dye, no hit whatsoever (don't need the taps)!

got to get me a set of those too, 3 and 4 mm would be usefull both for inside and outside thread.

Jonny any tips what to keep in mind when buying?

I bought mine from Sears "Craftsman"... that was many years ago. Check your local Autoparts dealer they can often special order just about any tool.

Nope not really ... I have an HSS set with pretty much the same contents as Bram's set, it still has the price tag on it (51.95 GBP), but that was pre-internet ... sets tend to be much better value than individual parts - even if you only ever use 2 sizes you'll break even. I also have a tiny HSS set for M1 to M2.5 I got more recently.

More important is how you use them - make sure the hole or the bar is the right size, make sure everything is square, go slowly, and spend a lot of time going backwards to keep the threads clear ... I don't think there's a hard & fast rule, I tend to go 1 turn forward, 3/4 back - it's still way quicker than snapping a tap

A proper set would be a bit out of budget for myself...
I saw one on a local site for 15 euro but I'm not sure of the quality with that price.
Thing is, if you want a handle for it as well, you probably end up buying a complete set anyway.
It's definitely on my wish list.
