You can go a much faster motor in a Boomer with no probs.

You mean when you turn it into a RWD?

I've had a quick look, and 10.5T or 13.5T (13.5T most recommended) seems to be the common motors.
Gearbox isn't that strong, and no slipper clutch option pretty much limits how low you can go with the turns. For some reason I thought 8.5T was the safe limit! :P

Didn't want Adrian to melt his gears together!

Boomerang has no option for a change of gear ratio either right?
With a TA01 you can also fit the speed tuned gears.

Going for a bigger wheel size will increase top speed also! B)
You'll need a good motor to handle the extra required torque in that case.

I'd like to see what this RR motor does. Pretty impressed by the rpm.

15 and 17 tooth from memory?
Could be wrong!

The RR should have the torque to get the higher speed from bigger wheels no probs.
Nice RPM too!

Basic Manta Ray gear is 21T and the speed tuned I think 16T - so that's a nice range.
Still pretty limited in total choice but fun to try. :)

And that RR is indeed a cool motor. If Adrian's not bidding on it then maybe I will! ;)

21T sounds quite high, is that because the chassis is shared with on-road cars, and hence smaller wheels?
Good you can go down to 16T, would give you a large choice of motors to play with.

Are you going to ninja the RR from Adrian?

No way man - he's got dibbs!

True that - they're originally for the Skyline...
And it's cool that the TA01 is quite versatile that way. :)
Of course that all happened after they chose to use the Ray as sort of a prototype.

Edit : honestly I'm almost breaking my brain now on how the gear ratios and teeth relate to each other.
I think there are three choices for spur and a large selection of pinions. That'll take some research again...
The Ray has good options to fiddle around with this but how exactly eludes me for now.

Glad you scored the RR.
Sounds like a nice motor.

Apart from bearings in the gearbox, a steel motor pinion would be wise.
The standard aluminium ones aren't that great!

I looked up the tooth count, and the options are 13T and 15T (Not 15T and 17T like I thought!:P )
I'm not sure which one to recommend though.
You could grab one of each and see which one you're happier with. (They're quite cheap)
13T might be the way to go, seeing the amount of RPM the motor pulls, and also the fact it has a bit less torque than some other motors.
