Egress 2013 8 years 3 weeks ago #37770

Just got it in today.

Question is what brushless motor and ESC should I use? It doesn't come with a motor or any recommendations on motor.

Don't want to tear up the drive shaft but want speed :)

Please advise.

Thanks

I have a 2013 Egress to build too :) Remember if you don't want to tear up your car, you need to tune it ;) Correct tyres for the surface your running, correct gearing and of course the right motor :) Remember that you can increase and decrease throttle percentage on your controller

I will probably go with this combo for mine :)

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

Thanks andyaus.

How can I figure out what the correct gearing I need for this motor? Is there a guide or to how gearing?

Thanks

Start with the kit 17t and tune from there, lets say you go to a 15t pinion you will get more torque & cooler running plus lower speed (but depending on your battery combo this doesn't mean slow) just play around with it, that's half the fun :)

Edit: I did it again  thanks waterbok

Ehm other way around, smaller pinion, more torque less speed.

Should be fine with any 1/10 brushless combo provided you don't go silly with the lipo & remember there's limited space for it.
My other car is a Tamiya - bumper sticker on my van

The Egress comes with 22T pinion gear which has ratio of 8.29:1

Will Tamiya RC Motor 10.5T Brushless TBLM-02S work? Specs say ideal for buggy applications with an 8.9 - 11.7 gear ratio.

I know Egress is 8.29 which is a little out of range, but will it work without changing out the pinion gear? Or do I have to change out the pinion gear? or it will not work at all period?

Thanks

It will work, but I think you'll find it a slug off the line and the motor will get very hot  putting a smaller pinion would be a good idea.

Thanks @ andyaus!

So should I go with 18T pinion gear or less and can the Egress handle smaller pinion gear?

btw do you know if this motor is 3520kv or less? How is this motor compare to turnigy trackstar 3520kv?
