Hi buddies! Here is the story of my Sand Rover:

I own a real buggy, this is a french LM SOVRA short wheelbase, a Manx copy.

So I had the idea to reproduce it at 1/10 scale, and the only model available is the Tamiya Sand Rover.
But the 2010 edition is ugly...

First step: find a good base!

So i bought a lot of 3 cars: A used but complete Sand Rover, a brand new Holiday Buggy and a DT-03 wreck. For less than 120€! B)

Body modifications:

I had to modifie the body profil, the sides were too deep:

Note the Sand Scorcher's tail light:
The body is lower, so i had to open a hole for drivetrain.

It's time to fill huge hole of the bonnet

To hide the gap behind seats I realized a tonneau-cover:

LM SOVRA was based at Corbeilles en Gatinais near Montargis (45).
MARLAND was based at Les Mureaux (78) & Issy les Moulineaux. (92)

I live in Picardie... ;)

Chassis modifications.

The biggest problem with DT-02 base are dimensions, the challenge was to set wheels under fenders, and you can find plenty of solution to do that on the internet. Here is mine:
I needed:
DF-03 A arm (2 set) ref # SP1367
50602 Tamiya bevel gear set
53218 Joint cup set
3Racing TA-0526 drive shaft or adjustable shaft ( EG www.ebay.fr/itm...EBIDX%3AIT
8 plastic rod ends
