i just looked for some 5mm machine belt and picked the one that looked most trust worthy this whole belt thing is quite confusing

there are several offers of belts most PU but also one that has belts out of one piece who states those are better than the PU ones, might send a mail to some and ask around a bit what works best.

You could try groups.yahoo.co...NIMAT/info ... although it does seem to be centred in the USA.

DB/SL PULLEY SIZE INFORMATION

Here is the pulley size information I have gathered over the years, of selling replacement belts.

Measurements are outside diameters

U.S. DISTRIBUTED DB/SL
Motor Pulley: 18 - 30 - 42 mm (can be put on reversed)
Intermediate Pulley: 18 - 30 - 42 mm
Spindle Pulley: 65 - 75 - 85 mm
Autofeed pulley: 42

Spindle to Motor: 80
Motor to Intermediate: 62
Intermediate to Spindle: 78
Spindle to Autofeed: 78

EUROPEAN DISTRIBUTED UNIMAT ( they did not necessarly use the DB/SL tag, and not all used this pulley set )
Motor Pulley: 18 - 30 - 42 mm
Intermediate Pulley: 18 - 33 - 49 mm
Spindle Pulley: 55 - 70 - 85 mm

That clears things up nicely (sarcasm ) - my Unimat SL, which, according to here is Australian, but I believe to be a UK model, has US pulleys

Needs some practice to get it right but the weld that finally hold was quite strong.

Motors turn tonight, looks quite clean just a little rust inside from lying in storage for years.
