I'll be posting the built of the second chassis very soon.
A perfectly scratch free little shelf car... but it'll get a new owner. I'm going into detail so much with all my builds that's it not very feasible at the moment to have too many cars. Having a great hopped up C11 and hopefully an F40 built in the future ain't too bad either. Soon to be continued... |

First step is to sort out the best looking parts for this build - I have about a car and a half in spares.
These are all new and will form most of the chassis : All the items are vintage but the lower two on the left... The bag under the chassis is from a 58095 F101 and has some common components. I'll use the shiny new piece of FRP and the steering rods from it. Have to say all this lightens the Group C fire a bit again. But as I said I won't be keeping this one. It does give me a chance to focus on the hopped up chassis a bit for which I have some awesome looking foam tyres. And there's still a screw or two that's not titanium... |

What does the WD-40 do to the parts?

Are you building it for someone in particular, or will it be for sale? Dibs if it is for sale.

Just cleaning up small metal parts but it usually does a pretty good job on plastic diff parts too. Yeah, already have a buyer. Gonna end up in a very cool collection... I'm a bit sad to see it go but I won't be selling the complete car - just the chassis. So I can keep the body and wheels for my other C11. |

Original damper is put on - recognizable (for example) by the wider flanged oil seal for who has read my
CVA topic
.
Since it will be shelfed, I'm not putting any oil in it : And all of it put together. What's left are the diff parts for the rear axle : Have to say the artificial light doesn't do enough justice to this beautiful shiny chassis. I'll take a picture of the finished result with some real light... |

Done! Believe it or not - a fully original build. Not a hop up in sight!
I thought about not putting any grease in the diff (it being a shelfer) but for the sake of preservation I lubricated it a bit. One might want to spin the wheels when picking it up and it will also prevent oxidation. Apart from the chassis I added a little bag with all the parts that belong to a complete setup. I know how annoying it is having stuff missing from the car. Especially the motor mount. Gonna go through the manual one more time to see if everything is there... Man, I love the look and shape of a Group C chassis. Need to get me a new piece of cardboard though... |
