Shame about the hole :( ... but I wonder if you can make a "feature" out of it? I'm thinking an alloy plate held in by black rubber double edged beading?

I know I've seen some, somewhere ... I'll try & remember where, or at least the correct name for it :)

In the past, I've used flat twin core cable - run a sharp knife carefully down the narrow side & extract the wire cores. Then you're left with black flat sleeving witha split up one side, which can be used for lining edges of holes (Sharp bends will need the sleeve to be heated to make it bend without wrinkling)

You can buy "grommet strip" for lining cut edges, usually available to buy from electrical factors (Eg Hellermann), but it does tend to be segmented ("Lobster back) rather than a continuous smooth surface.

Another option might be to buy U-section aluminium or styrene from a DIY or model shop

Hi Eddrick,

Think i will go for your option three. Not want to spend lots of money on a original lid that's intact. For now i will leave it until i find a cheap cracked one.

Cheers, Bram

Would this do?

Hi Bram,

Very nice car you got there ! As i can see it looks in pretty good condition !
I don't know why but most of Rough Riders & Sand Scorchers I have seen have the electronic box drilled or cutted....The one i'm restoring also had an "abused" e-box. The only way to get it right was to replace it with a vintage one found on e-bay !

I'll keep an eye on your thread ! Keep on with the good work !

Well, to be honest, it is not much use to me, so if you could just cover the cost of postage that will be fine.

Well lets get started! :) At first i wanted to go and polish all the beautiful metal parts the RR has, but i later decided not too.
Afterall a car 34 years old and called Rough Rider couldn't look as bling bling as i thought B)

Gear box

Rear arms

Servi saver and body mount

torsion bars

motor

pinion

Rear

PS As you might noticed it has almost all mk.1 features but the servo saver is not :(
