Tamiya M-05 CVA Damper Upgrade Question? 2 years 1 month ago #70830

You might need to check the part #, as the parts database doesn't show 50619 as CVA Dampers.

Measure the current shock mounting holes center-center.
I've got a regular M-05, so not exactly sure how much it shares with the Ra version.  Sounds like the Ra achieves the extra 5mm clearance with just different hubs/knuckles, and the shocks are most likely the same?

I also put stiffer (blue) springs in the rear, as found them too soft for a FWD.  But this would depend if are going to run on road or dirt.
tamiyabase.com/...6213-53440  - they are for TA/TL chassis, so you need to use a spacer to take up the slack.

Tamiya M-05 CVA Damper Upgrade Question? 2 years 1 month ago #70832

Only difference with Ra is with the hub knuckle. I don't know why these are not in the M-05 kit as standard as there is two settings, standard or the extra 5mm ride height.

Thank you

I ordered the same shocks as lem. And they fits very well on m05 and mf01x.

I've got these for my M06, which are apparently 50mm:  tamiyabase.com/...7949-54000
Coincidently, I got those same Yeah Racing shocks for my TT02.  They are 55mm.
Haven't built either chassis yet.

Then there's the cheaper options like these:

The M-05R version of the chassis comes with the 42273 TRF dampers.  These are the top of the line if you want the best Tamiya offers.  I describe them on my Mini Cooper build.  The 54000 aluminum dampers also work (cheaper), as do the 50746 CVA Super Mini plastic CVA dampers (cheapest).  The two metal sets come with 4 dampers, but you'll need to buy two sets if you get the plastic version.  I describe the 54000 set on my Renault Alpine build, and the CVA version are used on my Rally Beetle build.
