Here is a quite special, to me, non-RC, story from today:
I get a phone call in the middle of the day, unknown number, but I answer anyway, although at work and in a meeting... The guy at the other end turns up to be someone who bought a pile of old motorcycle junk parts from me more than 10 years ago. More or less just the frame, fenders and the front in pieces, and the engine in a cardboard box. Those parts came from my granddad's, and later my dad's, 1952 Tempo Villiers 125 ccm motorcycle. (English motor, Norwegian chassis) My granddad bought it new in 1952. Many years later, mid 80's, I "re-discovering" those parts when me and my dad went into a forrest nearby my grandfathers house, and litterally dug out the parts from the grounds. The "bike" had been dug down there as trash, after my father had crasched the bike in his teens and split his upper lip... Fast forward to today. The guy calling me want me to sign a "sales notice" necessary for him to officially take ownership of the "chassis number" as he was thinking of selling it. At the same time he gives me the first choice of buying it back, if I wanted. I got excited, of course, but I really don't have time to restore a motorbike these days, but what the heck... Me and my son went to take a look and we were shown this beauty: Needless to say, I bought it and we will pick it up coming monday! So, it's back in the family, with third generation. Fourth generation ready to take over as soon as I allow him, which will be a very, very long time from now I could not be happier just now! Well done Lars, a humbling story to read.
You actually reminded me, my dad was the same and burried behind my childhood house back garden a RD250 motor bike. Unfortunately worth nowhere near as much so it'll stay in the ground .
