Today I decided to crawl into that deep dark place in the garage where I thought I may have stashed some old R/C stuff when I moved into this house in 2001. I was far removed from the hobby at that time, but I rarely throw stuff away even if it is in bad shape. Sure enough I found what I set out for, the ridiculous motor I bought for my Blackfoot when I was a kid, that destroyed countless half-shafts - The RX-540VZ Technigold. Somehow it made the trip from family home years ago. I'm embarrassed of the shape I found it in, but I really put this thing through the wringer as a 13-14 YO that didn't know any better. Has anyone ever managed to rebuild one of these? I'd absolutely be over the moon to refurbish it and install in my 2016 Blackfoot kit for nostalgic purposes. Edit to add - I just found replacement decals on MCI Racing's site and I see brushes on Ebay. It needs a lot of TLC though.
Also found was I believe to be my one and only charger BITD - the MRC RB-475. And now for some pics: IG_tamiyaddiction

Yeahhh nice find. The rx540vz is always a mythic motor. It needs work but it's a good motor for vintage tamiya.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate
