To be clear, it was only the pink labelled Ansmann "Clash" motors I (and a lot of other people) had issues with, I can't comment on any later motors & personally I've had no issues with HPI motors :)

Here's the rather tongue-in-cheek "article" I wrote (over 10 years ago now):

Disappointed with the performance and torque of your Ansmann Clash motor?

Here's a step by step guide to improving its performance:

Step one - remove Ansmann motor from car & buy either a Mardave 25T G2 motor, or a Hunter 27T 540SF (around £9).

Step two - if your new motor doesn't have leads fitted, unsolder the leads from the Ansmann, and fit to your new motor.

Step three - dispose of any unused parts.

Little update on this....

So, I have found a set of crystals to be defective!

The hpi Saturn 27t was tested and again after a few minutes started going crazy! (With working crystals)

So that motors due in the bin, need a new spare set of crystals, and need a new 540!

Got a new Carson 3.1 pro set just delivered so will give that a go, and going to try msc to see if that’s good.

Will keep me busy for a hour or two over the next few days! 👍

sounds like your sorting the problems out, :y:
still odd the interference only starts after some time of running
again down to suppression....?

Trying to get there!

Maybe when the motor starts to heat up or something, just going to replace I think with a Mabuchi 540, that will do this little car!

maybe the switch too i had that sort of this happen to me
switch for the receiver
new crystals first
i would try a different receiver and servos and switch to rule out the transmitter even have a look at the battery bay see if any crap on the battery clips there
if all good then u know something wrong with the other use one servo at a time
then change out the receiver and the servos one at a time
one servo might be playing up and it making the other one bad too

could u put a few pic up

Hi spannerman

I seem to be running okay now.

I have even just been out using the old msc and until the battery started to drop voltage was running pretty well to be honest.

With the new esc it runs really nice!

Both above instances with original 380 can and new nimh battery. Runs okay with old nicads on esc, not tested on msc.

I think my main problem is the hpi motor, it really messes with the servos, maybe to much noise/chatter. I don’t think it has enough compression as per falcon 3D advice.

I have used both servos with esc for steering and have been fine.

I have 2 older switches for use with msc and both don’t cut power when switched off and I moved servo arm to activate forward/reverse?

New switch on esc works fine on 380 but on hpi the car can still be twitchy when failsafe should have kicked in when battery voltage drops?

I am using a acoms unit as per pic and as long as the both antennas are fully extended it works well with minimal interference. I also separated all cables as best I could and again this helped improve things.

I have jus received a Carson 3.1 pro set (tx + rx) 2.4ghz but not used yet, I imagine this will mean pretty faultless driving.

Pics below of the car and gear from just now (used msc)
