Been working on the motor, it's pretty grotty - including some nasty soldering

Completely dismantled:

Everything (apart from the bearings, which got a soak in oil) went in the ultrasonic tank for a good long buzz ... after that the manky wiring was desoldered, and ring terminals soldered on new wire as the correct tabs were missing :(

I was a bit skeptical about the need for the correct spring and brush spreading tools - but they were cheap enough so I thought I'd give them a try - the spring fitting tool in action:

... And the brush spreader - it's supposed to go in the other side (so you can get the rotor in) - this photo is just to show what it does:

Rotor in ...

That should have been it - but after running it briefly it was obvious the bearing in the endbell must have been carrying some damage as it was getting hot very quickly - so it all had to come apart again for a replacement.

I've put new "Japanese" bullet connectors on the wires ... it still looks pretty rough, but at least i know it's clean & is going to run ok.

I'm not quite sure what to do with it now ... TBH I think it would be more at home in my Bigpg than in the Manta Ray ...

Got a bit out of sequence, this is the rest of the lot & the issues I found dismantling it ...

Battery clamp is missing ... I wonder if we can convince eddrick to make a few? ;)

They're common to several cars - I also need one for an FF01 for a start ...

Never seen Hotshot tyres do this before - usually they just get rock hard ...

Manky shocks & rusty driveshafts...

Propshaft is very floppy ...

Front bumper, underside of the tub & lower suspension arms are all gouged...

TX seems to have been given a brush down but was still minging ...

Body, wing & chassis tub got a scrub in the sink ... rx, servos, ESC & TX got a sponge bath, everything else went in the ultrasonic tank ... the only rebuilding I've done so far is the shocks:

I think that's pretty much all my updates across all my projects for now :)

Looks very nice! I also used some Novus 123 in the past but found it quite expensive at the time. Don't know the prices atm. But its the good stuff :y:

Nice! Definitely gonna try that stuff too... B)
Bram, a set of the 2 oz bottles (and some additional items) is about 15 euro with shipping. Directly from Novus.
It's shipping cost that kind of makes getting bigger ones uninteresting.

Jonny, did you feel the need to use all three types or could maybe only the finest two be sufficient if sanded well enough?
