Well, as you can see i decided to tackle the job of spraying the interior parts. I started by running some 800 grit sand paper over all the parts. Cleaned all the plastic injection marks and burrs off with a small hobby knife. And finally before spraying, I decided to spend some time prepping for the actual spraying. I normally just mission straight into the spraying, and end up touching the paint, etc...

I simply used a hot glue gun, and some BBQ skewers, and there we are, no more mess...

As you can see I already sprayed the primer in this picture:

Sprayed the floorpan in primer:

And the dashboard:

The other headache was masking up around the wheel arches to spray the matt black, and around the roof, to spray the gloss black:

Ok, so last update you saw the interior glued to the cardboard, and sprayed in primer. Well here it is only the parts that must be matt are sprayed matt black. The rest are to be sprayed a tan leather color.

A close up of some of the parts:

I started removing the masking tape and paper very cautiously, because the last spray job I did ended in disaster. The tape peeled away the paint, it bled under the tape, etc. But my secret weapon this time was automotive painter edge tape, and a trick my wife told me about. The trick is after masking, and before spraying the color, spray the masked off color and let it dry. that way it bleeds the masked off color, rather than the new color... The automotive painters edge tape is 5mm wide, and very thin. It can contour to any shape, it sticks to anything, and it is like soft vinyl. Works great...

But on to the result of hours of masking, I'm super happy with it...

Matt arches:

Manditory flex shot:

And now for some smaller details. Used very fine mesh found in any Panel repair shop:

It can be cut with a paper scissors. And here it is behind the grill:

And another small detail is the body color sticks out behind the park light, so I used this aircon foil duct tape to simulate the reflective background:

Here is the result:

More soon, I must polish all the clear glass panels, they seem to have some overspray on them.

Thanks for all the comments guys. It really means a lot to me.

I have a question, I'm guesting JR will have an answer. How do I clean up overspray from clear plastic, and from new paint? I read on some website that i must use cooking oil on the clear plastic, and rub it with a cloth. Don't know if I want to try just any method, unless it has been used before with success.

Any idea's guys?

Lars recently posted a nice piece about using a bit of nitro fuel :

Lexan overspray fix

I could imagine the Tamiya polycarbonate body cleaner doing a good job at that too.
I'd use "Commandant" after the paint has dried really well for paint on paint overspray or orange peel.
Eddrick mentioned "T-cut" had the same properties.

Edit - oil based liquids seem to work well for removing tape residu...

Any idea what kind of plastic it is though?
Maybe I could try some stuff out on it in an upcoming experiment...

It is ABS plastic I think. The white plastic the body is made of, and the clear plastic is the windscreen and side windows...
