Oh, the humanity ... tried airbrushing X-26 Clear Orange over the metallic base, and it did not go well ... I had to dilute it 1:1 to get it to flow at all, a seal must have failed on the first single action brush I tried so barely anything was coming out ... next I tried my DA brush, but it only has a little nozzle so it's not surprising that coverage was pretty poor (even if it seems to work fine on solid colours ) ... 2nd SA brush gave adequate coverage but the result is horiffic - runs, fish eyes & bloom abound :s

I'm going to give up on the idea of spraying candy finishes at RC scales ... time for another strip back (4th time now) & next time I'll try something safer - probably VW brilliant orange.

Stripped again ... hopefully it's 3rd time lucky

I've been looking for metallic orange paints, perhaps not surprisingly there aren't that many options - but I see Halfords do a Ford Electric Orange that might fit the bill ...

Finally put some orange on this ... colour is nothing like the reference stripe on the can, but is I think a fairly decent match to the Ford colour. The instructions on the cap say 3-4 coats over white primer, and clearcoat after.

Photos of the body are after 4 colour coats, it looks better in the photos as the colour & finish are more like a mango ice lolly. Spangles are very few and far between & only really visible in the strongest of sunlight. I'll let it sit a good long time (this time) before clearcoating :)

I'm pretty sure it was just the Focus ST-2 & ST-3 where Electric Orange was an option. Anything else (1993 Fiestas, Pumas :silly: Fiat Puntos etc) being wishful thinking on thje owners behalf ;)
